Ahane GAA : Weekly Notes 07th August 2017

Senior Hurling : The Senior Hurlers are back in full training in preparation for the  final Championship match of this series. The team is scheduled to play our old adversaries, South Liberties, at the end of the month. The date and venue is not yet decided.  Unfortunately, the Tony Herbert tournament final against Faughs of Dublin has to be deferred because the Dublin Championship dates and the Limerick County Championship dates are not compatible. The date and time of the rescheduled match will be advised in due course.

Minor Hurling : The Minor Championship competition is nearing completion with the team’s remaining match against Adare in Mackey Park on Friday 18th of August.  The Minor hurlers continue to train on Thursdays between 6:30 and 7:30 and on Sunday mornings between 10:00 and 11:00.

Ahane GAA Club Gear : Ahane GAA Club Gear is available for purchase online.  Please use the following link.  https://www.oneills.com/shop-by-team/gaa/ireland/ahane-gaa.html  Anyone who needs Club socks or shorts should contact: Bernie Quirke - 087 4190260 or Gina Hourigan - 087 2204600.

U10 : the U10 hurlers have an away hurling challenge game against Clonlara on Tuesday.

U12 :  the U12 hurlers had an away league game against Kilmallock on Thursday evening last.  With many of the older U12 players away on holidays, the squad was made up of a lot of the U11 players who put in a credible performance on the night against a much bigger and stronger Kilmallock team.  There was very little between the two sides in the first half but Kilmallock finished strongly in the second half to take a fine win.  The 14 Ahane players put in a very workmanlike performance and the mentors complimented their hard working effort to the very end against a more physical opposition.  Well done to Paddy (who volunteered and had a great game in goals), the hard working backs of Harry, Conor, Tadhg, Darragh and Jamie, Jack and Sean in midfield and the forwards of Will, David, James R, John, Ryan and James D.  The U12 footballers are due to have a home league game against Knockainey on Thursday next.

U14 : the U14 footballers have a home league game against Askeaton in Mackey Park on Wednesday evening at 7pm.

Condolences : Ahane GAA Club would like to offer our sincere condolences to Fr. Brendan Kyne (Parish Priest of Castleconnell/Ahane/Montpelier) and to all of the Kyne family on the passing of Fr. Brendan’s father : Patrick J (P.J.) Kyne of Miltown Malbay, Co. Clare.  Ar dheis De go raibh a anam dilis.
