AGM 2017

Following mass celebrated by Fr. Kyne last week, Ahane held its AGM at headquarters in Mackey Park. It was a well-attended meeting with a very positive and upbeat atmosphere throughout.

A comprehensive Secretaries report, outlined the on and off pitch happenings of the 20127 season. The report reflected the successes at the various grades and portrayed a hopeful outlook for the 2018 season.

Carol Condon presented a clear and detailed record of the clubs finances and provided clear and comprehensive answers to all questions.

Colm Barry then addressed the gathering and in a good humoured speech, gave a very informative presentation of the clubs development now and outlined plans into the future. He outlined the status of the current development of the dressing rooms and. He indicated the medium and long term development plans for the Club.

Next on the agenda was the election of officers, the following roles were filled;

Willie Keane (President) Arthur Grahame (Vice President, Matt Whelan (Vice President) Colm Barry (Chairman) Mary Ryan (Secretary) Mike Murphy (Vice chairman) Carol Condon (Treasurer) Dennis O Leary (Assistant treasurer) Johnny Meskell Jnr (PRO) Fiona Quirke (Registrar) Laura Fox (Child welfare officer) Seanie Carey (Health and Well Being Officer) John Meskell and Willie Keane (County Board Delegates)  Jimmy Feerick (Football Board Delegate) Mike Murphy and Finbarr McCarthy (East Board Delegates) John Ryan (Irish Officer) Martin McCormack (Bord Na nOg Officer) Niall Moran (Coaching Officer) The incoming committee will co-opt two players representatives and also representatives from the Camogie and Ladies Football sectors.

There was one motion that rise to lively and constructive discussion.

The attendance applauded floral presentations to our Secretary, Mary Ryan and also to Bernie Quirke to recognise the sterling work that they do on behalf of the Ahane Club.

Ahane Bord na nOg 2018

The Bord na nOg group for 2018 season held their first meeting recently in the Clubhouse to plan ahead for the new hurling and football season for the underage group.  There is a great level of anticipation and participation ahead of the new season.  We would like to wish all the underage players an enjoyable festive season and all the very best for the New Year – we look forward to seeing you all in Mackey Park in 2018.

 

Ahane Gaa Presentation Evening

Ahane GAA held an end of year presentation night in the Ahane clubhouse on Saturday 16th December.

The evening was coupled with a mentors and volunteers evening, to recognise the hard work and dedication by all throughout 2017. There was a presentation of Senior County Cup medals to our Senior Hurling squad for 2017 and East Senior Championship Winners medals from 2016.

Our U16 football County winners also received their medals on the night.

There was an additional presentation of County medals to the U14 team of 2013.

MC supreme Brian O'Mara done a brilliant job as usual as the large crowd that were in attendance were given a most entertaining night with entertaining speeches from John Keane on the u16s fabulous achievement and from Chairman Colm Barry on behalf of the Senior Hurlers.

There was also a special presentation made to our Secretary Mary Ryan as a thank you from her friends and colleagues for all her efforts over the past year.

 

Ahane Ladies Football Teams Honoured

Ahane Ladies Football Presentation Night took place last Sunday, 17 December in Ahane GAA Club.

Teams honoured on the night: U18 League Champions, U14A Championship and League Champions, U16 Championship and League Champions, U12 & U10:  Super 7s Teams, U8 and U6 Teams.

Our thanks to special Guest Dan Morrissey who presented the medals. It was an honour to have the Munster & All Ireland U21 Hurling Cups present. Thanks to James O'Keeffe for taking the Photographs and to everyone who donated spot prizes for the raffle on the night.

A special presentation was made to Tom Morrissey, on Captaining Limerick to U21 All Ireland Honours.  The Club also gave appreciation awards to Mary Flaherty & Breda Ahern for their contributions to Ahane ladies football over the years.

Our thanks to all the players and coaches for their dedication and commitment throughout the season, to Ahane GAA Club, to the parents and volunteers for giving their time so generously throughout the year. We really appreciate it.
