He could be described as Mr. Ahane, our own Louie Quirke received a "Lifetime of Service" GAA award from the Old Time Gaels of East Limerick in the Millennium Centre, Caherconlish earlier this week.

Having not only been an ever present member on the Ahane committee since 1970 to the present day, Louie has been involved in all factions of the club over the years. He gave his time successfully as both a hurler and footballer before moving onto management roles, secretary, treasurer and fundraiser duties and has been a renowned leader in all positive aspects of the club over the years.

Its fitting that the award came from the Old Time Gael of East Limerick with Louie having also served with the East board since 1999 - and continues to do so - having filled the role of Treasurer and Chairman over the years. Indeed, it was remarked how Louie's "vision, energy, integrity and fairness have been key to the East Divisional boards vision over the past numbers of years - his contribution has been immense", which really exemplified how worthy a recipient of the honorary award he is.

With his ever supportive wife Bernie by his side, along with son Conor and daughter Fiona - all heavily involved in club duties over the years also - Louie has been an outstanding individual who has committed his life to the GAA within Ahane, East Divisional and County Level.

Congrats Louie, Athain Abu!
