Stunning sunshine and top-class skill made for a very entertaining Sunday morning. Both Ahane and Newcastle West showed why they were in the League Semi Final with some fine scores coming from both sides. Ahane started strongly with a goal within the first two minutes from corner forward Orla Curtin. Both teams battled hard and showed great skill in the first half in very warm conditions. Niamh Mulcahy was pinpoint accurate from frees and Ahane went in 1-7 to 0-7 points up at half time.

Newcastle West came out fighting in the second half and narrowed the gap to two points, but our girls never gave up and with a second goal in the 13th minute from Aine Reynolds and points from Niamh Mulcahy, Aine Reynolds, and Orla Curtin Ahane got back on top. Not without drama Newcastle West were awarded a penalty in the last few minutes but it was saved on the line by Sarah Crotty.

Ahane went on to win the game 2-13 to 0-10 points, meaning they are now back in the League Final next Sunday against Killeedy. The game will throw in at 1:00pm in either Croagh or The Bog Garden Rathkeale. Keep an eye out on our social media, both Facebook and Twitter over the next week and get all the final details! We would like to thank all those who came out to support the girls yesterday morning and we hope to see you all there again next weekend to support them in the final!
