Two great games were played on Saturday evening last in Corks newly refurbished Pairc Ui Chaoimh stadium. The main fair was the clash between Munster’s remaining two unbeaten sides in the senior game, which ended in a thrilling high scoring draw, 0-28 to 1-25. Indeed Ahane’s own Tom and Dan Morrissey were outstanding, contributing to Limericks cause throughout in terms of general play and on the scoreboard. The lads return to action again next Sunday in the Gaelic Grounds against a resurgent Waterford side.

In the opener, Limerick minors followed up their win at home against Tipperary a fortnight ago with a comfortable 6 point win over the Rebel county. In a game which they controlled throughout, leading by 5 points at half time, they continued their good form in the second half, eventually finishing with a 1-20 to 0-17 win. With Ahane’s Padraig Harnett among those manning the defence sternly, they never allowed the Cork side close the margin. Andrew Shanahan was another member of the Ahane contingent togged as sub on the day. The minors next game is also against Waterford before the senior game next Sunday.

Best of luck to both Limerick sides and the Ahane lads involved.
