Ahane U9 and U10 Hurlers : Trip to Ballina GAA 

The Ahane U9 and U10 hurlers took part in the 15th Annual John Joe Nevin Hurling Tournament on Sunday 02nd September which was superbly hosted by Ballina GAA Juvenile Club.  The tournament started in 2004 and each year it continues to grow in strength and is a celebration of underage hurling where all games will be sporting, the competition will be great and whatever the result, the winner will be hurling and all the players taking part will enjoy a fantastic day out.

The U9 players from Ahane enjoyed great games against Newport, Clonlara and Monaleen with the U10 squad playing Clonlara, Newport and Killaloe.  After 3 sporting games for each of the squads, the players thoroughly enjoyed the warm hospitality and refreshments provided by Ballina GAA in the clubhouse at the end of the tournament.  Congratulations and thank you to Ballina GAA for hosting a wonderful tournament for the young Ahane players.  The pitches were in excellent condition and the day was very expertly run with Ballina GAA providing a professional match day programme where player’s names from all teams were listed along with the Chairman’s welcome, schedule of games, past winners and players of the tournaments, photos of previous captains along with the background to the Des Nevin Cup.
