As you may be aware, Ahane GAA are hosting a “Homecoming” event following Limerick’s recent All-Ireland win on Sunday, 30th September.

For Ahane there is extra significance attached given we had two of our own players involved, in Tom and Dan Morrissey, who are indeed the first Ahane men since Mick Mackey and co. in the 40’s to bring All-Ireland senior medals back to the club.

We intend to mark the occasion by hosting a huge homecoming party which will see the Liam McCarthy cup return to the parish along with Tom, Dan and a host of other Limerick players.

We hope to see huge support out within the parish on the day which will begin with a brief parade around the center of Castleconnell , starting soon after 4pm.

The main homecoming party will take place at the Ahane GAA grounds around 6pm where we would again like to welcome all. Here we will have music (DJ and Live Band), food and refreshments available for all. There will be a stage set up where the players and Cup will be introduced and interviewed. There will also be opportunities for photos and autographs with the players also.

We hope in advance that the parish, and especially the village of Castleconnell where the players will arrive to first will turn Green & White for this visit. We’d like to encourage all the kids (and big kids!) to show their colours on the day, have the flags and bunting flying proud, and help make this a truly historic and memorable occasion for all!
