Ahane were out again this evening in the Senior Camogie County Championship against Na Piarsaigh. Na Piarsaigh got the first scoring chance but the ball went wide. Ahane came back, won the puck out and a point came from Aine Reynolds. In the third minute Aine popped up again when a ball came from the middle of the field, Aine managed to step around the defender and hand passed the ball into the back of Laura O'Niell's net. The only goal of the night for Ahane, as Na Piarsaigh's Laura O'Niell put in an absolute fantastic shift between the post. Roisin O'Mara, Noreen Flanagan, and Niamh Mulcahy all tagged on points to the Ahane scoreline meaning ten minutes in the scoreline was Ahane 1-6 to Na Piarsaigh 0-0. Na Piarsaigh came back with a goal and a point to make it five points between the teams.

Noreen Flanagan and Ann Kennedy covered huge amount of space in the middle of the field and passed some top quality ball into the awaiting half and full forward lines. The Ahane forwards made hay while the sun shone and points came from Roisin, Orla Curtin, and Niamh. The Na Piarsaigh side never gave up however and added two more points to their tally. The teams went at half time on a scoreline of Ahane 1-13 to Na Piarsaigh 1-03.

The second half started and Ahane were quickest out the blocks with a point coming from Aisling Herbert. Points came from Niamh, Noreen, Aine, Judith Mulcahy, and Margaret Meskell throughout the second half. Again in the second half the Na Piarsaigh goalkeeper was top class and saved everything that was pucked at her. Na Piarsaigh battled hard in the second half but the Ahane defence held strong. The game ended on a scoreline of Ahane 1-26 to Na Piarsaigh 1-04.

Tonight's win means Ahane now through to the County Semi Final in two weeks time. Their opponents will be decided after the last round of games next weekend, so keep an eye on our social media pages (Facebook and Twitter @AhaneCamogie) for updates.

Finally, from all of us at Ahane Camogie we would like to say a huge well done to both teams on a great, sporting game of camogie which was thoroughly enjoyed by all the supporters.
