SENIOR HURLING :EAST CHAMPIONSHIP
Ahane 1-9 Doon 1-18
This was worthwhile exercise for the first game of the year against a full strength Doon outfit. Ahane showed tremendous commitment to the cause from start to finish but it was always going to be difficult to get the better of a much sharper Doon side.
In spite of the result, Ahane can take many positives from their first run out of the season. Some tremendous individual displays combined with a disciplined work ethic all over the field bodes well for the months ahead.
Cappamore are up next and will give the new management another chance to see their charges in competitive action.

CON & ANNIE KIRBY MEMORIAL STAKE :
Ahane and our canine representative Bentekes Bocko got off to a proverbial flyer at a packed Limerick Greyhound Stadium last Saturday night winning in a very fast time of 28.61 .
Bocko broke like lightning from Trap 4 and never relinquished his lead and goes forward to the next round next Saturday night the 18th .We urge as many supporters as possible to attend from 7.46pm .Speaking to the winning trainer Pat Buckley afterwards ,Bocko's handler was bullish about our chances of winning the badly needed €10000.
"Bocko is a very quick dog but had a small setback before Christmas .I expect him to come out of the race well and improve again ."
We urge as many people as possible to attend the next round next Saturday Night as Bocko strives to earn us some hard got cash .
