SENIOR HURLING
The preparations for the Championship are well on track with the 1st championship match versus our neighbours Doon to take place during 4th-7th May. The Senior team trained on Tuesday and Thursday and played a very competitive challenge match v Kinnity from Offaly on Saturday evening in Mackey Park. Ahane started very slowly against a strong wind and found themselves 2-08 to 0-06 down at half time. The team rallied well in the 2nd half to win out by 2pts on a scoreline of 1-17 to 2-12.
The team are at home to Garryspillane on Tuesday 11th at 6.30pm in Mackey Park in the All County Div 1 League, training on Thursday 13th 7-8.30pm and away to Murroe Boher on Saturday 15th at 6.30pm in the All County Div 1 League. All support for our senior hurlers and to Ahane's new main sponsor for 2017 - Martin Haugh's Munster Tree Surgeons is greatly appreciated.

MINOR HURLING
The minor hurlers who have been training since early February are up and running in the 2017 Premier Minor Championship. Our 1st championship match was a tough away fixture v Patrickswell on Friday 7th. In a fabulous end to end game of hurling, Ahane deservedly came out on top by the tightest of margins on a scoreline of 4-14 to 2-19 - a great start to the 2017 season. Next up is a tough home tie with Garryspillane on Friday 21st April. Training continues every Sunday morning 10-11am.

CON & ANNIE KIRBY MEMORIAL STAKE FINAL - Limerick Greyhound Stadium
There were great celebrations at Limerick Greyhound Stadium on Saturday night last when Bentekes Bocko, running for Ahane GAA Club won the
5th Con & Annie Kirby Memorial Stake Final. Ahane and 5 other Limerick GAA Clubs shared €20,000 between them based on the placing of their nominated dog in the race - the race was sponsored by the McManus family. Benetekes Bocko, who was drawn in Trap 4, led from start to finish and there was huge excitement when the greyhound crossed the line to claim first place and the prize of €10,000 for Ahane GAA Club. A large turnout of supporters from the Club roared the dog home and celebrated the fantastic result at the finish line. The greyhound was led onto the track behind the Ahane GAA Club banner which was carried by Tara and Ella and all the Ahane supporters made their way into the winning podium after the race. A big thank you to all involved and those that supported Benetekes Bocko over the last few weeks - well done to Limerick GAA, all at Limerick Greyhound Stadium and the McManus family.
