Premier Minor Championship 21/04/2017
AHANE 0-16 GARRYSPILLANE 0-25
Ahane came up short on the night when they came up against a very strong Garryspillane team at Mackey Park on Friday 21st April
The 1st half was very even as both teams scored some brilliant long range points and it was level on no fewer than 6 occasions and if Ahane had managed to take some of their goal chances, they may have got on top, however towards the end of the half Garryspillane tipped over 3 points without reply to leave them 0-11 to 0-08 up at the break.
The 2nd half was a different affair as Garryspillane slowly got up by 6 points and Ahane found themselves chasing the game and looking for goals, which left spaces in the middle which Garryspillane exploited to the full. However going into the final 10 minutes Ahane were still in touch but just couldn't muster up a goal which would have put Garryspillane under pressure. In the end Garryspillane won out on a scoreline of 0-25 to 0-16 but huge credit to every one of the very young Ahane squad on the night which never gave up and fought to the end. The Premier Minor championship now takes a break until after the exams.
