Congratulations to Ahane Senior Tom Morrissey on being named as Captain of Limerick's U 21 team for 2017 and for his Man of the Match award following Limerick's convincing win over neighbours Tipperary in the Munster U21 1/4 final in the Gaelic Grounds last Thursday evening.

Minor Hurling : Ahane's Minor Hurlers recorded a superb victory over neighbours Monaleen in the Tom Blake annual Minor Hurling Memorial Tournament in Mackey Park on Sunday last.  The Blake Tournament was held in memory of Tom and Mags Blake who were great servants of the club.  Ahane started the match playing against a strong wind, but settled well and Dara Cullimore won an early penalty which Captain on the day, William Brennan crashed to the net. This was followed by several excellent taken points from Conor Morrissey, Ronan Reale, William Brennan Conor Heffernan and Padraig Harnett as Ahane completely dominated throughout and another goal from Conor Heffernan and Dara Cullimore left Ahane well ahead at half time.  Ahane brought on all of their 8 young subs in the 2nd half with some excellent points from Kevin Morrissey, Ronan Reale, Ronan Fox, Andrew Shanahan, Padraig Harnett and  William Brennan with 2 more goals from Conor Morrissey and William Brennan to ensure Ahane took a great win.  This was a huge team performance as Ahane's backs and midfield also played magnificently throughout and fought for every ball for the full 60 minutes.  Ahane claimed the much coveted Tom Blake Minor Hurling Memorial Trophy for 2017 and Ahane's centre forward Conor Morrissey also claimed the Man of the Match award after a brilliant personal display.  Ahane's team included :  Adam Murrihy, Luke O Sullivan, Adam Myers, Ishan Conroy, Andrew Shanahan, Padraig Harnett, Sean Feeney, Dion Lynch, Darragh Keogh, Peter O Grady, Conor Morrissey, William Brennan, Conor Heffernan, Ronan Reale, Dara Cullimore, Josh O Keeffe, Ronan Fox, Denis Hayes, Robert McGill, Kevin Morrissey, Jack Barry, Mark Donnellan, Aidan Carroll.

Luigh an onóir go headroom ar ghuaillí Thomáis de réir dealraimh mar ní amháin gur ghnóthaigh sé 1-4  ach toghadh mar laoch an chluiche é freisin. Bhí bua maith ag Luimneach ar Thiobraid Árann I bPáirc na nGael leis an scór:  Luimneach 2-24 Tiobraid Arann 0-19.  Tá Luimneach ag barr na scuaine anois ag a lán daoine chun craobh na hÉireann  a bhuachaint ag an leibhéal seo.

U8 : The Ahane U8's hosted a club Hurling blitz in Mackey Park on Friday evening with Murroe-Boher & Newtownshandrum taking part. All teams played 4 matches each and the standard of hurling was a credit to all 3 clubs. There was lots of excitement and great skill on display from all players. Well done to all the players involved.  Sincere thanks to all the Ahane U8 Parents for their generosity in providing Tea, Sandwiches & refreshments to the travelling players & supporters.  U8 Football training continues Sunday morning at 10.30am and Hurling training will be on Monday at 6.15pm. We will have a football Blitz next Friday 30th in Monaleen at 6.15pm.

U10 : Hurling Challenge match away to Parteen on Thursday 29th.  Due to game on Thursday, there will be no hurling training on Friday.  Football training on Sunday morning‘s from 1030-1130.

U12 : The U12 Football team travelled to Na Piarsaigh on Friday last for an away league game.  Prior to the game, the players were presented with the new U12 jerseys by the U12 Mentors and Bord na nOg Chairman Brian O'Mara.  The jerseys were purchased for the U12 players for the rest of the season and for future U12 teams over the coming seasons.  The football game against Na Piarsaigh was a very tight affair in the first half with nothing between the two teams.  The players upped their performance in the second half with an increase in effort, improved skill and took some nice scores to take a well-deserved league win.   The Ahane mentors would like to thank Na Piarsaigh for facilitating a change in date of the game (even with a busy Na Piarsaigh pitch for many other games / training) and for providing a referee last evening - where 28 players (14 a side) were playing on a tight pitch - it was not an easy task.  Well done to the squad of 16 players - a special mention to Kyle for his leading the team as Captain to reflect his efforts with the U14 squad in hurling and football and to mark his birthday last week, to Paddy for his commitment and playing after coming off a flight from Portugal and to Tony for his penalty save in the second half.  It was nice to get a win with the first outing of the new jerseys.  Football training Sunday am 1030-1130 and hurling training Monday 6.30-8pm. Hurling match on Thursday evening away to Ballybrown.

U14 :  The U14 hurling training session was taken by Ahane and Limerick Senior Hurler Dan Morrissey on Sunday morning last which the players thorough enjoyed - thanks Dan.  The players were treated to ice-cream (with a few opting for noodles instead !!) in George's (Shannon Stores) after training - this was promised by Lead Mentor Brian O'Mara after their performances at the Feile Provincial Finals day last weekend and a busy week with football and hurling league games played on Monday and Wednesday.  Well done to the U14 squad and mentors.  U14 hurling league game in Mackey Park on Wednesday evening 28th June against Kilpeacon at 7.15pm.

U16 : The Ahane U16 hurlers resumed championship action against fierce rivals Doon, in Doon on Friday 23rd June. Ahane came away with a very important victory after an even and closely fought battle.
