Senior Hurling : the Seniors returned to competitive action on Sunday 30th June with a very worthwhile and highly competitive match at home to Kilmallock in the ACHL. Ahane took the opportunity to give a lot of players game time after the recent break and it was a very worthwhile exercise at this time.  Next up in what will be the last game in this season's ACHL is a tough away tie with Na Piarsaigh on Tuesday 4th July - 7.30pm throw in.  All support will be very welcome.  Munster Tree Surgeons are the proud sponsor of Ahane Senior hurling.  Congratulations to Dan and Tom Morrissey on representing Limerick in the All Ireland Qualifier against Kilkenny last Saturday, despite the disappointing result.

Minor Hurling : the Minors had a very tough encounter in the Premier Minor Hurling Championship last Friday with an away game at Na Piarsaigh.  Ahane dominated the game for long periods in the 1st half and were by far the more disappointed team at half time with the teams locked on 8pts apiece.  The 2nd half was just as tight with scores very hard to come by for both teams, when Na Piarsaigh getting a soft goal due to the strong sunlight. Na Piarsaigh held out to claim the points but Ahane can be very proud of the performance.  It is great to see the team so competitive at the top level of Minor Championship hurling.  Next up for Ahane in the Premier Minor Championship is the visit of Mungret to Mackey Park next Friday at 7.30pm - all supporters are asked to come along and get behind the team.   Congratulations to Ciarán Barry and Daniel Minehan on representing Limerick in the Minor Munster hurling semi-final on Wednesday evening when Limerick were pipped after extra time in Cusack Park in Ennis, with both players having done their club and County proud over the 3 championship games in 2017.

Junior Footballers : Well done to the Junior Footballers who played Fr. Caseys - the newly crowned County Junior league champions.  The game was a very close encounter with the Ahane team very unlucky to come out on the wrong side of a 1-point decision, on a scoreline of 1-09 to 1-08 in favour of Fr. Caseys.  It was a very good game of football with a high work-rate on display from both teams.  Ahane would like to congratulate Fr. Caseys on their recent achievement and wish them all the best for the remainder of the year.  The Junior Football team kick off in the first of the upcoming Championship matches : 02-July, away to Knockane.

As Gaeilge : Cill Chainnigh 0-20 Luimneach 0-17.  Cuireadh Luimneach as craobh iomána na hÉireann oíche de Sathairn I bPáirc Uí Nualláin nuair a bhí an bua ag Cill Chainnigh.  Cluiche dian a bhí ann agus ní raibh mórán idir na foirne ó thus deireadh. Cé go raibh foireann Luimnigh óg sheas said a bhfód go tréan. Chuir Dan agus Tom Morrissey bratach Atháin in aired ar an oíche. Bhí Dan ag imirt mar leathchúlaí deas agus bhí oíche mhaith aige. Tháinig Tom isteach mar ionadaí sa dara leath. Cé nach raibh an toradh sásúil bhí an lucht leanúna bródúil as iarrachtaí na foirne. Maith sibh leads!

U8 : the footballers continued to showcase their fine array of football skills at the county organized blitz in Monaleen. Teams from Monaleen, Ahane, Ballybrown and Ballinacurra Gaels made up very competitive games with plenty of skill, fun and enthusiasm from all Ahane players.  The players received some well-deserved treats at the end of the evening to thank them for their hard work in improving their football skills over the last few months.  The panel consisted of – Harry, Donnacha, Daniel, Jack, Ben, Shane, John, Cormac, Tony, Kevin, Ewan, Rory, Shane, Cian, Riain and Tom.  The mentors would like to thank Monaleen GAA for hosting and all parents who supported the player on the night.  All U8 training are on hold until the end of July – happy holidays to all the players.

U10 : The hurlers played 3 challenge games against Kilmaley on Saturday evening last.  The team were missing a few players and had 12 players who played 3 games on the night – they were very competitive throughout in wet conditions. Well done and thanks to all who travelled to play in Kilmaley.  Hurling blitz in Claughaun on Friday next 07th July.  Hurling training will continue during July and August on Monday’s only at 6.30pm.  There will be training no Friday evening’s.  Football training on Sunday morning‘s from 1030-1130.

U12 :  the U12 Hurlers players travelled for an away league game against Ballybrown. The game was very competitive throughout. In a tight first-half, Ahane aided by the breeze were on top with good possession but unfortunately conceded a late goal to Ballybrown just before half time. The Ahane players rallied in the second half against the strong wind with a great display of hurling and commitment and were unlucky not to get 2 goals. Overall, Ballybrown were a little stronger and won on the night in a very competitive match. This was the 2nd night in a row for some of the U12 hurlers to play a full match having played with the U14 hurlers over Kilpeacon on Wednesday evening (well done to David, Will, Donnacha, Darragh and Sean). The squad against Ballybrown was Tony, Kyle, Donnacha, Jamie, James O'M, Cathal, Paddy, David, Sean, Will, Conor, Tadhg, Ben, Darragh, Cian, Adam and John. Well done for a super effort.

U14 :  Our U14 hurlers notched up a second victory in U14 Hurling league in a thrilling encounter with Kilpeacon (Crecora and Mainister) in Mackey Park. The game started on a sad but very respectful note with both young squads standing together in the center of the pitch for a minutes silence as a mark of respect to the late James(Jim) Hayes long serving Crecora GAA President who passed away recently, ar dheis Dé, go a n-ainm dílis. Kilpeacon captain Sam O’Riordan then shook hands with the Ahane captain Liam O’Mara and the game sparked into life. Well done to Donnacha, Kyle, Colm , Stephen, Evan, John D, Cormac, Darragh, Gavin C, Sean, Eddie, Shane,  Liam, David, Will and Ciaran in securing a well-deserved win for Ahane on a final score line of 3-8 to 2-4.
