The U13/14 Footballers travelled to Ferbane GAA, Co. Offaly yesterday to take part in the Regional Football Feile day. The players gathered in Mackey Park just after 9am to travel via bus to Ferbane GAA. The team travelled in anticipation of a great day of football and craic and were not disappointed with a fantastic trip had by all players, mentors and supporters. With many of the group missing due to holidays and other commitments, the 16 Ahane players who travelled on the day gave it their all in sweltering heat over the course of two challenging and highly competitive games against Castleknock of Dublin and St. Joseph's of Laois and were a credit to Ahane GAA with their efforts in both games to the very end over the course of back to back games. A massive thank you to Ferbane GAA who hosted a fantastic day for the players and who ensured everything ran smoothly and professionally - in addition hot food was provided to all after the games. The Ahane players (and all 5 mentors!!) made a welcome stop in Banagher enroute back to enjoy a cool dip in an outdoor pool on the Shannon river. There was a big effort to get all the players and mentors out of the water and back on the bus!! The team arrived back in Mackey Park at 5.30pm after a truly enjoyable day. A big thank you to the supporters who travelled to Ferbane GAA to cheer on the players - well done to the team on the day - Colm S-W, Mark M, Stephen H, Kyle F, Craig O'C, Ciaran C, Dylan O'C, Ruairi C, Sean O'N, Jack B, Danny S, John D, David C, Adam O'C, Ryan O'K and Will McC.
