Ahane Senior Hurlers
The seniors resumed action on Friday last in the third round of games against Knockainey. Having a win and a draw under our belts from the opening rounds, Ahane looked for another much needed 2 points in Cappamore in difficult wet conditions.
The lads welcomed intercounty stars Tom and Dan Morrissey back to the starting line, while veteran Niall Moran served out his suspension arising from the last game against Murroe. Ahane started well and indeed got the opening few scores on the board. With great movement in attack, the lads were causing the “all-blacks” a world of concern. We went in ahead at the break following scores primarily through Paul O’Halloran, Johnny Fox and Tom and Dan.
The second half proved to be a good battle, with a Knockainey goal at the mid-point lending concern to the cause on the night, with the scoreboard at the time showing Ahane 0-14 to Knockainey’s 1-9. Ahane responded well and added the next 4 scores to finish strong, winning out 0-18 to 1-9.
Next up is East rivals South Liberties.
Well done to all involved.
