It was a great evening of sport on the back pitch in Lisnagry school tonight when our U6’s lined out for the very first outing of their playing career in the green and gold of Ahane GAA Club. What better year to start your hurling career in Limerick!

It was a hive of activity as our neighbours from Newport GAA Club visited in large numbers for the mini-blitz that involved boys and girls. 25 Ahane boys and girls proudly secured their shin guards and fastened their helmets ready for the throw in and ready for action where the emphasis was on fun, movement and interaction while holding the hurley correctly while running and striking.

No one was keeping scores, but the result that was important was the smiles on all of the players’ faces as they shook hands with their opponents at the end of each match.

Well done to Paul Kennedy, Gina Hourigan, Brendan O’Connor, Paudie Ryan & John Lynch for their great work with this group of players.
