Sunday October 28th saw Ahane face Inniscarra of Cork in the Munster Club Semi Final in Inniscarra. On what was a crisp bank holiday Sunday the two teams played a game of top quality camogie that was enjoyed by the big crowd.

Things started well for Ahane as Orla Curtin slotted home Ahane's only goal of the game after 48 seconds. This really got Ahane motoring and we led for the whole of the first half. Inniscarra got their first point in the 4th minute and put two between the sides. Both teams battled hard and no ball was won easily. There was great hooking, blocking, hassling, and pressure from both teams. Inniscarrra got their second point in the ninth minute meaning there was only a point between the teams. Suzy McGovern put two between the teams again when she scored a point from play for Ahane in the tenth minute. At times this game was end to end and you could not take your eyes off it. Niamh Mulcahy got her first point from a free in the 11th minute, putting Ahane back three points up. Niamh then got her second point this time from play putting Ahane four points up. Inniscarra however were quick to move the play back up to their forwards and score their third point of the game to bring the difference back to three. Inniscarra brought the difference back to two in the 17th minute. The Ahane defence held well being lead from the back with Síle Moynihan in goal, who made some vital saves, along with Rose Collins, Niamh Martin, Niamh Power, Sarah Condron, Noreen Flanagan, and Kate Herbert all made life incredibly difficult for the Inniscarra forwards. Ahane scored again in the 22 minute when Niamh put the ball over the bar from a free. To which Inniscarra replied with two points of their own. At half time the teams went in on a scoreline of Ahane 1-04 Inniscarra 0-06.

Inniscarra came out in the second half with the breeze in their favour. They were first to score with a point coming in the 2nd minute from a free. Róisín O'Mara got Ahane's first score of the second half when she put the ball over the bar after great work from the girls outside her to get the ball to her. Ann Kennedy and Marguerita McCarthy did trojan work around the middle of the field and covered every blade of grass on the field. Inniscarra's Niamh Dilworth and Ahane's Niamh Mulcahy traded points from frees and Niamh Mulcahy ended the game with six points, five from free one from play. Midway through the second half Ahane had a goal chance but it was saved by Inniscarra keeper Sheila Walsh, from this save the Inniscarra backs worked the ball up through the lines and managed to stick the ball into the net meaning it was now Ahane 1-07 Inniscarra 1-13 putting a six point cushion between the teams. In the 29th minute Niamh Mulcahy scored Ahanes last point of the game to make it 1-08 to 1-13. Inniscarra tacked on two more points after this to make the final score Ahane 1-08 to Inniscarra 1-15. Inniscarra now go on to the Munster Final against Inagh Kilnamona of Clare. We wish them the very best of luck!
