The U12 Hurlers turned in a fantastic display in the annual Tom Blake Tournament to take the winners’ cup yesterday. The semi-finals saw Ahane play Ballyhea from Cork with Nenagh Eire Og playing Murroe-Boher. After 2 tremendous games, Ahane qualified to take on Nenagh in the final with Murroe-Boher taking on Ballyhea in the Shield final. Murroe-Boher went on to win the Shield final after a very entertaining game.
The Ahane U12 players put in their best display of the season against Nenagh Eire Og to take a fine win in the Cup Final with some resolute defending, high work rate and excellent teamwork to record and score 2-11 to capture the trophy. The Cup was presented to the victorious Ahane U12 Captain Eoin Coughlan. Eoin made a fine speech to thank all visiting teams who took part in the tournament and compliment all those who supported and helped to ensure everything ran smoothly on the day. Conor Ryan was named player of the Cup final.
The U12 Mentors would like to thank Sean Carey and Liam Berkery for taking care of referee duties in a professional and fair way over the course of the games and a massive THANK YOU to all parents and everyone who provided refreshments and took care of all the guests to Mackey Park yesterday. Ahane GAA would like to thank the Blake family for their ongoing support to the tournament and acknowledge the contribution of Tom Blake to the club over many years.
