Ahane ran out worthy wiinners of our U14 hurling tournament final today in Mackey Park on a 1-11 to 2-3 final scoreline over Adare.
Ahane started brightly and had the ball in the Adare net after 3 minutes . Ahane continued to dominate and led 1-1 to 0-0 after 10mins. Adare took a foothold in the game and tacked onto 2 points to Ahanes 1 to leave Ahane leading by 3 points at the halftime break. Adare started the second half strongly and scored 1-1 inside 5 minutes to lead by a point . Ahane responded well and took a foothold around the middle third scoring the next 5 points to lead by four again. Adare then struck for another goal with 9 mins remaining to reduce the deficit to the bare minimum. But Ahane rallied again and showed great spirit and determination to score 4 points in succession to lead by 5 points. Adare were awarded a penalty with 1 min remaining but a superb save from goalkeeper Tony Lee Coffey and clearance from our backs ensured it was Ahanes day. All that was left to do was the presentation, which Dan Morrissey presented the cup to Ahanes Captain Sean O Neill. Special thank you to all the players, mentors, parents and supporters , and to Adare and to Dan for making the presentation. Ahane Abu!!
