Firstly we would like to say a massive thank you and a well done to all the girls that took part in our skills challenge! It was great to see the younger girls out practicing and improving day on day!
A huge thank you to the Senior girls and management for firstly setting the challenges and then taking on the challenges that the underage girls set for them. It was fantastic to see the senior girls and the underage girls working together and it created a great buzz around the club which was badly needed during these times! 💚💛
We have come up with the following initiative that we hope will keep the girls active and practicing over the coming weeks while we are all still off the field and at home.
Introducing;
Movement Monday’s - This is all about getting the girls to work on their fundamental movement, while building on their fitness and keeping them active! 🏃🏻♀️🏃🏻
Trick shot Tuesdays - This gets the girls having a bit of fun and craic while practicing. We will have an example each week of a trick shot that they can practice! ✌🏻
Wonderful Women Wednesdays - This is where the girls get to showcase all their hard work and also drive home the 20x20.ie initiative if they wanted to they could try out different skills and tricks they have seen their favourite player do (both their favourite Camogie players and hurlers) e.g. they could practice taking frees like Niamh Mulcahy, or they could try emulate Tom Morrissey’s score from the his knees in the U21 game against Galway https://youtu.be/yUWvZ41lyeQ and various things along those lines to show their skills. 20x20 in conjunction with AIG are holding a #ShowYourSkills competition where they pick a winner each month and the prize is €1,000 we’ll leave a link here so you can find all the info, https://www.aig.ie/20x20/show-your-skills-competition you would have to enter your own daughter if you do want to enter them into the competition but we would still post all their videos to social media like we have been doing with the challenge videos! 🚺
Throwback Thursday - We will post one of the 37 challenges every Thursday as a way to keep the girls going and ensuring that they keep up all their practicing that they have been doing! 💪🏻
Freestyle Friday - This is completely up to them! We’ll put an example on social media of freestyle hurling videos that they can use as a reference point but this is where they can get creative while also practicing! 💃🏻
We will be starting tomorrow and are so looking forward to seeing the different skills and ideas that girls come up with! Again this is targeted at the girls between 5-16 years old but anyone can get involved if they want to! The main aim is to get the girls out and practicing camogie!
