Murroe Boher made the short trip to Mackey Park to play Ahane in the fifth round of the East Hurling League on Saturday evening. Ahane got off the mark with a Paul O’Halloran free, which he added to minutes later to make it Ahane 0-02 Murroe Boher 0-01. Points came from both sides in the next couple of minutes. Ahane saw Mark Donnellan, Andrew Shanahan and Paul O’Halloran get points to see the scores at the water break as Ahane 0-05 Murroe Boher 0-04. Murroe Boher were the quickest after the water break as they got a point, and the teams were level. They would be level on several occasions over the sixty minutes of hurling. Adam O’Brien had another solid game between the posts as he made some good saves. The Murroe Boher keeper had a serious game too and scored four long range points over the evening. More points from Mark Donnellan and Niall Moran saw the teams go in at half time on a score line of Ahane 0-08 Murroe Boher 0-10. The second half got underway with more points coming from Niall and Paul. Murroe Boher never let us get too far ahead as they tacked on several points themselves. There was fierce battling going on all over the field and neither side wanted to come out on the losing side. For every Ahane point that went over Murroe Boher responded with a point of their own. The score at the second half water break was Ahane 0-14 Murroe Boher 0-13. It was the Murroe Boher keeper that got their levelling point from a free but again some monster points from Niall saw us go ahead once again. As was the theme of the game Murroe Boher got the point back and it was level. The game ended in a draw Ahane 0-18 Murroe Boher 0-18.
