Ahane travelled to Crecora on a warm Saturday evening to take on Crecora in the League Quarter Final. A good opening quarter from both sides saw them head into the first water break Ahane 0-04 Crecora 0-05. Ahane got some lovely scores from Aine Reynolds, Niamh Brennan, Noreen Flanagan and Ciara Keaveney. The second quarter would see some more great scores being taken from both sides. Ahane had a goal opportunity saved by the Crecora keeper, but we kept the score board ticking over with points. Half time the game stood at eight points apiece.
The second half got underway and despite a great save from Niamh Power in goal, the loose ball wasn’t cleared and the Crecora forwards managed to score a goal from the rebound. They got their second goal not two minutes later which saw them go into a six-point lead. Ahane were quick to respond with some great points of their own. Crecora continued to put on the pressure and got some well worked scores. Ahane broke through on goal though in the final quarter and rattled the back of the net. They battled on again but going into injury time they were still behind, that was until Aine Reynolds got on the end of a great pass and smashed the ball to the back of the net. The goal along with a point from Ciara Oliver and a last minute free from Aine meant the game ended on a score line of Ahane 2-13 Crecora 2-11. Ahane are now in a league semi-final v Granagh Ballingarry next weekend. Full fixture details will be on our social media during the week.
