Our Minor team then headed to Monaleen on Sunday evening to play their final round game of the Minor A County Championship. Monaleen started the stronger and got some fantastic scores, but Ahane did respond well with a point from Niamh Brennan. Monaleen got some more good scores before we got our second point from Fiona Herbert. Score at the water break stood as Ahane 0-03 Monaleen 0-07. Second quarter was another tough battle, that saw Monaleen get their first of two goals. We got two more points from Fiona and Niamh to leave it as Ahane 0-06 Monaleen 1-09 at half time. Three minutes into the second half and Niamh Brennan scored Ahane’s first goal. Monaleen responded well with a goal and a point themselves. Sarah Cosgrove secured Ahane’s second goal after a super ball in from Lucy Cusack, but as with every score Ahane got Monaleen responded well with a score of their own. Full time score Ahane 2-08 Monaleen 2-15. A great game of camogie that saw both teams battle hard and get some great scores.
