Ahane travelled to Mungret St Pauls to play Mungret St Pauls in the third round of the Pat Ryan Financial Services Junior 12 a side Championship. Both teams put on a great display of camogie and at the first water break the scores were Ahane 0-00 Mungret St Pauls 0-02. Ahane’s first point came from Robyn Nugent after great work out the field from the Ahane defence and mid field. The half time score was Ahane 0-01 Mungret St Pauls 0-02. Ahane started the second half quickly with a goal coming from Margaret Meskell but three minutes later Mungret got a goal of their own and they were back to being a point up. Huge credit must go to the Ahane defence of Abby Murrihy, Aoife Whelan, Sinead O’Curry and Caoimhe Macken who all had great games. Mungret got a point from a free before Margaret got her second goal to put the Ahane side up by a point. Scores at the second water break were Ahane 2-01 Mungret St Pauls 1-03. Ahane did a lot of good interlinking play and won a lot a fifty-fifty ball. Anna Nagle scored a point to put Ahane up by two and then added another point to put her side three up much to the delight of the supporters who made the trip to Mungret! In the following three-minute Mungret St Pauls scored two goals and a point from a free to break the Ahane hearts. Ahane’s final score came from Cliodhna Twomey, but the game ended on a score line of Ahane 2-04 Mungret 3-04. A great game of camogie between two very skilful sides. It is a huge achievement for the club to field two adult teams and we are so proud of the girls and the effort they put in, in all three games. They are a credit to themselves, their families and the club!
