Whilst any day makes for an opportune moment to celebrate the women in our lives, clubs, and communities, tomorrow Tuesday the 8th the March is International Women’s Day. This is an ideal time to acknowledge that and to say plainly how highly valued they are to all of us.

This year’s theme is #Break the Bias with particular emphasis on creating mindset free of bias, stereotyping, discrimination and encouraging gender equality in workplaces, communities, schools, and colleges    The reality is whether deliberate or unconscious bias makes it difficult for women to reach their full potential. Knowing that this type of bias exists is one thing, calling it out and, fostering awareness of this is the type of action that is needed to make it a level playing field.

Ahane GAA club not only values the role of women of all ages not just in Ahane GAA club but also the community. Women have always contributed immensely to our club and continue to do so whether it is playing mentoring, working and constantly being proactive in creating a safe enjoyable, and inclusive environment within the club.

On a lighter but thought-provoking quote. “If you want something said ask a man, if you want something done ask a woman “. (Margaret Thatcher)

On an absolute serious note to all our women in Ahane GAA club and the community at large, a big “go raibh maith agat.
