The Junior A team started with an away game to Monaleen. We got the scoring underway with a Mark Donnellan point which was quickly followed by a Kevin Morrissey goal. Our defence did well throughout the game, and we got some more points from Mark, Peter O’Grady, Peter Donohoe, Kevin, Conor Morrissey, and Tom Doheny to have use eight points up at half time with the score board showing Ahane 1-11 Monaleen 0-06. The second half started brightly too with a point from Seamus Richardson, Paul Ryan then got a goal for us after a lovely pass in from Kevin Morrissey! Liam O’Mara got his name on the score sheet with a point before Monaleen got two goals in quick succession. Never fear though as Kevin Morrissey responded with his second and our third goal of the day. We tacked on two more points from Conor Morrissey and Mark Donnellan respectively and the game finished as Ahane 3-16 Monaleen 2-11. The perfect start for the lads!

Round 2 of the Junior A League saw us play South Liberties in Mackey Park. It was a point a piece after two minutes with Andrew Minehan getting our first score. Johnny Meskell put us ahead with a free, but South Liberties quickly got a point back to keep the game level. Ten minutes in and South Liberties slotted home a goal and the gap was three points. Kevin Morrissey got two points while South Liberties added on three more points themselves. The half time score was Ahane 0-05 South Liberties 1-06. Second half saw South Liberties get two points on the bounce before their full back saw a straight red and they were down to fourteen. Andrew Minehan got on the end of a great passage of play and slotted the ball into the South Liberties net, making it a four-point game. Seamus Richardson got a point, with Andrew adding another soon after. Not giving up easily South Liberties continued to fire over scores themselves and we were still four points behand with eighteen minutes got in the second half. Johnny Meskell popped the free over the bar and it was a three-point game. Unfortunately, Peter O’Grady got his second yellow and we were down to fourteen men. Johnny got another point from a free, before South Liberties were awarded a penalty. They struck the penalty over the bar and with five minutes of normal time to play the gap was four. Johnny got yet another point after a great move which was started in our defence by Jack Barry. The game finished up on a score line of Ahane 1-11 South Liberties 1-13.

Round three of the Junior A League took place on Tuesday 12th April in Cappamore against Cappamore. We started the first half well and got two goals, one from William Brennan and one from Killian Enright. Cappamore got a goal too towards half time, but we went in ahead at half time. Ahane 2-09 Cappamore 1-04. Cappamore started the second half quicker and got two points before Killian Enright got a point from a free to get our scores moving in the second half. Mark O’Halloran got a point and pushed out our lead to seven points. Enright was pinpoint accurate throughout the game as he got two another points. Cappamore continued to get some good scores of their own and twenty minutes into the second half we were six ahead. Killian got one last point for us after a super catch from Dara Cullimore in the half forward line. Full time score Ahane 2-14 Cappamore 1-10.
